Notice Something?

....Like something all my meals coming up don't have??

Yesterday was sorta a busy day for me. Started with my beloved gym, then breakfast and house stuff, then story time at B & N, then hit up the fountain with these crazy kids...
Then home for lunch...

  • Romaine
  • Spinach
  • Cabbage slaw
  • Chinese bean sprouts
  • Red pepper
  • Tomato
  • Raw mushroom
  • dressing made of, vinegar, soy sauce, lime juice, agave, and mustard
Side of Mexican Roasted Sweet Potatoes...
The glaze browned perfectly..
Put little one down for a nap and then onto some baking...
I made banana, plain and coconut oat bran muffins (they were out the box and not healthy). Then I pre-made dinner (recipe coming soon). Woke the little one up so she could test a muffin and get ready for karate. I snacked on my version of a AB & B sammie...
Then from karate to home to change for softball. Threw dinner in the oven and headed out to the ball park. Then home for dinner....
I made myself a stir-fry
  • Onion
  • Red pepper
  • Chinese bean sprouts
  • Squash
  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Tuna
  • Soy sauce
  • Fish sauce
  • Peanut butter
Served over raw spinach. Weird combo I know but tasty :)

Anyway, this brings me back to all my meals. What do all these meal have in common?

NO DAIRY!!!!

I don't know if some of you new readers noticed or not but I do not consume dairy. This was a personal decision I made about 6 months ago, later finding out that I have a slight allergy to cow's milk. I made this decision for several reasons one major one being all the tummy troubles I experienced for about 2 1/2 years. Another being my dear friend HEABS who had nothing but great things to say about this book, written by this awesome chick, who runs this awesome blog!! Recently I was in contact with Alisa, who so very kindly sent me her book to review....I am super excited about reading this book. I have already flipped thought just about the whole thing. The awesome recipes really caught my eye. Like this one...
You can check out tons of free recipes here

Expect a review and lots of recipe reviews in the near future :) Thank you so much Alisa!!!

Hope you all had a great Monday. My Tuesday can do no wrong because I am shortly headed to lunch at Whole Foods!!!

CONFESSION OF THE DAY: I walked out right in the middle of my weights class this morning. I was just not feeling the teachers routine this morning! Me and Theraband Balls are not friends. I felt bad but I went to the weight room and did my own thang and it was great!! Big ole sweaty mess. Definitly more so than if I would have stayed in class!!

  1. Your sweet potatoes look DE-licious! I want a big plate of them right now! Love your rendition of AB+B sandwich :)

Can't wait to see your review. I've been cutting back on dairy as well due to tum issues. Any day involving WFs is a good day!

To answer your Qs: Black bean and corn salsa - local grocery store. I've tried basically every brand on the market and they're all bueno. Also, the first episode of Rachel Zoe was last night but I'm sure they'll air plenty of reruns :)

  2. Hehe crazy kids indeed with cute swim suits and awesome sunglasses :)

I am slightly lactose intolerant too, and avoid milk, but have that occasional cheese and froyo. I have no self control over those things! And, I don't get as bad of a reaction of I keep portions small, since cheese and yogurt have digestive system helping bacteria.

  3. Darn girl, you had a busy day...but the life of a mom, they're all busy, aren't they! And just about the time you can take a breather, it's like oh, gotta make a meal.

I am dairy free, too... went DF about 3 yrs ago. Also went gluten and soy free. I was diggin that little salad dressing you whipped up, I could just omit the soy sauce and it would be ok if I used a little extra mustard. Different flavor, but that's cool.

And the sweet potato glaze = perfect. I will def. try that one!

Glad you're enjoying your book, that's awesome. I cannot digest milk well and it just promotes inflammation for me.

Oh and walking outta da lame-o gym class, I have done that before and it feels like a total rebel thing but yeah, why waste your precious working out time in a lame class. You go girl!

  4. I hadn't noticed you were dairy free, way to be! We don't need dairy in diets. It can be yummy but really, we're the only species on the planet that drinks the milk of another species. And there are so many other ways to enjoy the "dairy" treats we love so much. Banana whip anyone??

  8. that's true, I've never seen you consuming any dairy product. I'm not dairy intolerant, but cut it back a little bit after reading a lot of negative articles are cow milk. And yogurt makes me bloat.... so only cheese very occasionally. I have the same book, it's great, it has tons of amazing recipes that I still have to try. :)

good for you for doing something that fits you! there are so many dairy alternatives now - no worries about still having your cereal and eating it too!

  11. I've been trying to cut back on dairy lately, too, to see if that's the cause of some of my tummy issues. Maybe I need to read more about it.

  14. Love Go Dairy Free. Seriously, it changed my life for the good. You must try the Magical Shell over some coconut milk ice-cream. Amazing!

Your weird dinner combo sounds delicious to me my friend. Peanut butter, tuna, and fish sauce. Why not?

So jealous - this is your last Whole Foods lunch without me! ;)

  15. I tried going dairy-free a few weeks ago and it went well. (I've been having tummy issues too, but now I"m not sure if it is because of dairy.) ... Anyway ... the one thing I didn't like was that a lot of the substitutes are soy ... and I don't do soy. Any ideas on other substitutions that are also soy-free?
