U-G-L-I You Ain't Got No Alibi....

....You Yummy!!!!

Even though I haven't officially entered Katie's Contest, The New Foods Challenge, I decided I would still have a go at her challenge and I will get to that in moment.

First, I want to start with this mornings workout which majorly sucked a**!! I didn't feel like going in the first place but I forced myself there. When I got there I almost turned around but then I reasoned with myself. I went in and just pretty much went through the motions barley breaking a sweat. Got home and had a shi@#$ breakfast. Dont know why but it just sucked. I am definitly in a breakfast rut!! Ideas that dont include eggs anyone???? Heres the blah breakfast pic....
Double the chocolate double the fun?? Not today!!!

My morning snack was a little more titillating. I got to try a new food that I snagged at the grocery store yesterday...
I am so glad I tried this it was really yummy!! Here's a description from Wikipedia:

An ugli fruit (pronounced /ˈʌɡli/ "ugly") is a Jamaican tangelo, a citrus fruit created by hybridizing a grapefruit (or pomelo according to some sources) and a tangerine. Its species is Citrus reticulata x Citrus paradisi.[1]

It was discovered growing wild in Jamaica where it is mainly grown today.[citation needed] Its name derives from the unsightly appearance of its rough, wrinkled, greenish-yellow skin, wrapped loosely around the orange pulpy citrus inside.[1] The light green surface blemishes turn orange when the fruit is at its peak ripeness. An ugli fruit is usually slightly larger than a grapefruit (but this varies) and has fewer seeds. The flesh is very juicy and tends towards the sweet side of the tangerine rather than the bitter side of its grapefruit lineage, with a fragrant skin. The fruit is seasonal from December to April. It is distributed in the USA and Europe between November and April, and is on occasion available from July to September.

The sats were pretty good as well. Only containg 35 cals and 8 carbs in a 5oz serving. Wanna guess what I ate it with?
SAUSAGE!! Wrapped in a spinach flatout with more spinach, and mustard. Hold on to your panties cause the day is about to turn from UGLI to PRECIOUS!!

Lunch was leftover Turkey Chickpea Burgers...
Then I headed over to a friend in needs house. Wanna know what she needed? Someone to take one of the 6 PRECIOUS angels that had been abandoned at her house. I hesitantly obliged.
Look how tiny!!! Only 3 weeks old and as sweet as can be. She or he is now officially part of our family. I hope I am not making a mistake!!!

I will now leave you with some pork chicken sausage on pork turkey bacon action from the other night...
and some Turkey Chickpea Burger love from Sunday...
CONFESSION OF THE DAY: Although the kitten is cute and all I am seriously regretting the decision I made to keep him. Its such a huge responsibility and also a money sucker or money we don't have!!!

i know what you mean about the breakfast rut! I've actually been eating non-breakfast foods for breakfast lately. a girl can only eat so many oats!

  2. Awwwww the kitten is so cute!

I hate food ruts..the only non-oat, non-egg breakfast I have is a mix of whey protein, yoghurt, strawberries, raspberries and 1/2 banana whisked up in the smoothie maker/food processor. I put it in a bowl with some almonds/brazil nuts and sprinkle on some ground flaxseed. It's become my favourite breakfast (until my next rut). I'm not sure if it's right to keep me going through the gym but I guess I'll find out soon as I'm tucking into brekky in a moment x

  7. Cute kitten!
For breakfast I would suggest making a smoothie with whatever fruit and you can even throw some spinach in. If you feel like you need something with more substance just top with granola or cereal.

  8. That kitten is beyond cute! Oh wowow. What a darling!

I'm in a bit of a breakfast rut too so can't really offer suggestions... maybe some museli? Or a breakfast smoothie?

I want some ugli fruit now! Yum!

  11. Justine...
Oh my gosh, that kitten is absolutely precious...and I'm not even a cat person. Don't regret your decision. That little baby needs your love. :)

Sorry about the crappy workout and sub-par breakfast. You know I've been there my friend. Ugh, I feel like I haven't worked out in day, and with all this added salt in my diet, I'm feeling completely bloated. The long plane flight out to AZ didn't help. My fingers are all puffy. Yuck.

Still rocking the sausage I see. :) I LOVE Ugli fruit - haven't had it in years.

OK, time to let go of my panties and get myself to a yoga class.

    I miss you!!!!
