Poor Baby's Got My Genes

Last night while watching AI the little one decided to do an audition of her own...

Poor thing is oblivious to that fact that she probably inherited both her fathers and I's tone deafness and our two left feet :( . She was doubly doomed and thank God Simon wasn't there to critique! I gave her some Paula like support and encouragement.

After watching several of my uber trashy reality shows I hit up the kitchen for a late night snack. I present you with Strawberry Rhubarb "Ice cream"...
(my very first adventure with Rhubarb) Katie are you seeing this??? It turned out great!

In the mix was:
  • about 3 frozen large strawberries
  • 2/3 cup frozen rhubarb
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla Jay Robb brown rice protein powder
  • stevia
  • a few ice cubes and a small splash of water to blend
It made a massive bowl and I finished every last drop and then hit the sack.

Rose early this morning at 4:30 to hit the 5:05 weight class at the Y and then stayed and extra 30 min. for some cardio and few more weights. I was so starving when I got home I just made something quickly and didn't care to take a pic of it. I wasn't feeling very creative with my mid morning snack either....
Just a bowl of oats with some peanut butter and protein. Mmmmm! Lunch was MARV!!! I had a left over Black Bean Turkey Burger from last night that I hadn't yet tried. Let me just toot my horn for a minute....TOOT..TOOT!!! :)
I served it on a lettuce bun with spinach, tomato, avocado and later added mustard. I also had some steamed brussel sprouts and Pan "Fried" Sweet Potato Rounds.

Close up of the black bean goodness...
All together...
Kept me nice and full!

Later after being out in the hot steamy weather after a quick down pour, I decided I needed something to cool me off. I present you with the Strawberry Ginger Protein Smoothie....
Probably the best smoothie I have made to date. Now lets see if I can remember what went in this beauty...
  • 4 large frozen strawberries
  • about a 3 inch chunk of banana
  • small knob of fresh ginger
  • 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (UVAM)
  • stevia
  • juice of a small chunk of fresh lime
  • 1 scoop vanilla brown rice protein powder
This smoothie was great!!! If you have the ingredients I strongly recommend you giving it go!!

The man came home late from work and the little one was sleeping so I had dinner alone. It was a repeat of lunch but better... (if that's possible)
Pretty much the same Black Bean Turkey Burger but instead of the avocado I spread the top with Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. A FREAK IN MAZING!!! I also had a side of kale that I simmered in a water, red wine vinegar mixture, drained and then added some canned tomatoes and fresh garlic.

Now I am just chillin waiting for the man to finish the lawn so we can start watching some of our shows. So glad tomorrows Friday!!!

CONFESSION OF THE DAY: I cannot dance!! Unless I get a few drinks in me. Technically I still cant but I just get that "who gives a rats a**" attitude!!

  3. Justine,
I totally cannot dance either. I'm having my family over tonight for my brother's birthday, and I think I'll make those black bean burgers.

I love the strawberry rhubarb combo - should have used that for my pink oats instead of the beets. :)

Have a good Friday my sweet friend!

  7. Yummm rhubarb! I am planning on getting some at the farmer's market tomorrow. Your straw-rhubarb 'ice cream' looks delish.
I am the same way with the dancing...sober-forget it. A few drinks in me-I could care less that I look like a d-bag.

  8. Interesting confession - I actually think I become a far better dancer when I drink. I think I relax and just go with it more. Otherwise, I'm too uptight!

Your lunch does look marv! Mmm!
